Disney Interactive Studios announced that it will soon start offering limited early access to Star Wars: Assault Team, its latest Star Wars mobile game for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone devices. The said title is a turn-based strategy with elements of collectible card games that will be officially launching on all three of the aforementioned platforms this spring.

Star Wars: Assault Team will task its players with finding/collecting Rebel Alliance characters and forming them into an attack squad ready to kick some imperial butt. If battling AI isn’t your cup of Kashyyykan bitter berry beer, you’ll be pleased to know that the mobile game will also have multiplayer functionality.

Judging from these features, we’re presuming Star Wars: Assault Team will be a free-to-play pocket title supported by in-app purchases like booster packs and such. That’s yet to be officially confirmed, though, so Disney Interactive may still surprise us. Yeah, that’s probably not going to happen.

In any case, we’ll keep you posted about future developments, so stay tuned.
