Will GLWG work in portrait mode?

UK indie developer Rubicon, best known for its turn-based strategies Great Little War Game and Great Big War Game, as well as a free-to-play CCG Combat Monsters announced that it’s working on a sequel to Great Little War Game. Hmm, wasn’t GBWG the sequel to GLWG? From what we could gather, it was, but it wasn’t. Great Little War Game 2 is supposed to be the true sequel to the humorous 2011 mobile game.

Described as “a truer sequel to the original game”, GLWG 2 has reworked the formula of its predecessor in order to play better on a smartphone and tablet. It will feature some elements from Great Big War Game and a few novelties, but at its core – this portable creation is going “back to basics” in order to appeal to a wider audience. What does that mean, exactly? Well, it plays in portrait mode. How in the effing hell is that supposed to work? We don’t know, but looking at Rubicon’s track record, we’ll go ahead and trust them on this one.

The vanilla version of Great Little War Game 2 will be packed with 60 levels and priced at $2.99 with no additional in-app purchases or advertisements of any kind. The game’s going to hit iTunes iOS App Store and Google Play Store “in a few weeks”, though it’s still unclear whether it’ll launch simultaneously on both or not. We should have some screenshots of the game soon, so stay tuned on PGR for more updates.
