Kind of unexpectedly, Terry Cavanagh’s Super Hexagon just became available for purchase on the BlackBerry App World. Right now, it’s only available for the brand new BlackBerry 10 operating system, and the fact that the only device that runs BlackBerry 10 at this particular moment is the BlackBerry Z10 makes Super Hexagon its momentarily exclusive. Well, at least in the BlackBerry world.

How did this happen? As Cavanagh explains it on his blog:

Laurence Muller, who ported the C++ openFrameworks version of the game to Android, has an interest in Blackberry – he maintains the unofficial Blackberry port of openFrameworks. So when Blackberry came along and asked us to do the port, we figured, let’s give it a shot!

Regarding BlackBerry Z10, it is currently available for purchase in the UK and Canada, while the US customers will be able to buy it from next month. Cavanagh said that the BlackBerry PlayBook version of Super Hexagon is “also a possibility at a later date”.

Although BlackBerry devices aren’t really attractive to mobile gamers, we wholeheartedly welcome this move. After all, there are bound to be some masochistic Z10 owners that’ll enjoy to be tortured by this brilliant, but cursed game.

Super Hexagon is priced at $2.99 on the BlackBerry App World.
